The ‘You’ve Changed’ Gremlin:

“Who are you?”

People like to put us in boxes because that way we are easier to digest. It’s confusing to simultaneously like and loath someone because we begin to question what we feel. Our inner Gremlin will say “did I make the right decision? Can I trust them, can I trust myself?” It’s easy to spiral downwards. But that’s why WE (creator Gremlins) are here.

TO EVOLVE OUT LOUD. Because if we can’t reinvent ourselves and truthfully mirror our personal lives in our art, then who can? I think that the humility to change, out loud, is one of the most courageous things anyone can do.

Evolving out loud is a phrase that is summarising my life right now and consequently, everything/one around it.

  1. In conversations I say inwardly, “lets discuss and evolve out loud. You are allowed to take back what you say, it’s Ok.

  2. In love I allow the thought “this wasn’t right before, maybe now it is, maybe tomorrow it won’t be, it’s OK we move, we evolve.”

  3. In art I express, “this is what my internal world looked like last year and this is where it is now. It’s painful, my ego likes to be known for a particular style but if I’ve changed on the inside shouldn’t I allow my work to reflect that? Let me evolve out loud and you can visualise what that looks like.”

Evolving isn’t about being predictable, it’s about raising in consciousness. And so, surely if we want to grow, to feel free and joy, we can give ourselves the grace to sacrifice the old parts of us? But here’s the clincher. Not everyone will be as un-attached to the old you as you are. ISN’T THAT TWISTED? Other people hold on to the older versions of you and find it harder to let that go than even you do?! And you know why? Because they are taking your evolution personally.

The way that you evolve will rub against their own shackles and make them feel uncomfortable. “You’ve changed. Who are you?” You. Honey bee. Are the you 2.0. You are the present you, with less residue of the older, lower self worth.

You my dear, dear Gremlin, are allowed to up-level and shed the old layers because there will be more aligned, truer, creativity on the other side.

Who are you?

You are evolving. Out loud. That’s who.

Till next time you beautiful beast,

K X
