The ‘Lost’ Gremlin

This week I don’t know where to start. Which is good. Have you had the experience where you get a really good idea and it’s in the ether but you’re not ready to catch it? And then you worry, what if some one else is? Once the idea is ‘up for grabs’ it starts to tease you - it dances under other peoples noses making out with your anxiety. ‘Come get me baby’ it teases, every time another person mentions a phrase of the idea that you think … is just for you. I’m talking in 3D here but I have some threads of creative process that are related -

  1. Trusting timing and trusting that the idea is right for ‘you’. And if it’s not then the idea will find the right person who is ready for it. The idea doesn’t care about you it’s more like a virus that is trying to find the best person to nest in. So either you hurry up and make yourself ready or you find peace with the situation and wish the surrogate idea parent well on their way.

  2. The scary change of seasons that I alluded to 3 newsletters ago is upon us and it’s hard but right now, the challenge is to consistently create, stack small wins and maintain momentum. Don’t give up. Slow and steady.

  3. You can’t get sick enough to help an ill person get well. This is going to sound harsh but the world is really coming to a crescendo in many ways with politics, weather, and attention grabbing headlines. The heart, if not careful can de-combust just by watching Channel 4 news. So as an act of personal responsibility - find balance and do what you need to do to maintain clarity so that you are creating. Turn the energy into art and action, but don’t let it zap your energy and then excuse the neglect of your creativity as righteous. Because the way to do our work in the world is to keep the gremlin fire lit. We uplift from a position of clarity and alignment.
