The ‘Moving On’ Gremlin

SHE’S MOVINGGGG / (Has moved) studio.

I’m sat writing this with my easel and stool to the left of me. The first; my 16th birthday present and the latter, the only piece of furniture I’ve kept with me in five years of moving homes, studios and countries. I guess way back then I should have seen that asking for an easel for my 16th birthday present was a clear indicator that painting was my love - funny how obvious things seem in retrospect.

This week I’m moving out of Sarabande, an Art and Design Residency ran by the Alexander McQueen Foundation. I’ve been here for two years and now I’m looking for another spot.

What’s Next?

In this next phase, I’m exploring the niche sweet-spot between spoken word and painting - whether thats through audio, film, painting or all of the above.

What will be important in this next part of my career is how I’ll be curating and piecing together these elements to make it a slick experience for people to enjoy. I’ve spent a few years experimenting with words, colours and feelings, and I’ve settled into a nice cadence/ familiarity with my message of Islam, creative empowerment and Gremlin Fury.

Now, it’s about how I can deliver that to you and work with the people that have inspired me for so long.

Studio Space:

I’m not sure where that needs to be yet, so if you have any ideas, even if its in another country (LA, NY etc) please let me know, I’m open to suggestions.

What I’m printing:

The Goldprint NFT for November - here is the artwork carved and printed. This is the first stage, before it gets animated and minted on Superrare.

What I’m saying:

A poem inspired by a film I saw this week ‘Neptune Frost’.

Till next time you beautiful, slightly weird, kinda sexy, beast.
