The ‘Closing Out’ Gremlin

WAIT A MINUTE, CLEAR SOME SPACE AND FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED

How are you doing? Genuinely, how are you? How is your heart? How is your creativity? How is your health? Are you ready for the new year? Have you started making space, clearing out clothes, old pieces of paper and items? Are you focusing on what’s next, or are you numb? Are you spiralling, unable to determine the next best step, or are you clear and precise? Are you frosty and impatient, or are you generous and overflowing? Are you inspired, tired, or both?

This fortnight feels like the close-out of 2023. I am clearing out, refocusing, and getting my ducks in a row now, ready for 2024—it's time to use these next weeks to tie all loose ends.

This week, I was going to narrate some of the gifts I had learnt from my encounters, but right now, I don’t think you need more of someone else’s life in your life. My guess is you need some levity. Some light. Some hope. Some fresh air and a final boost to see you through this last hurdle. I guess that you need to be and give yourself permission to receive.

Receiving doesn’t just mean material items; it also means accepting the feelings or experiences you don’t feel you deserve - joy, warmth and touch. Receive intimacy, freedom, time, and the luxury of clarity.

Now is the time for family (blood or soul). For love, appreciation and gratitude. Time for the real stuff. Sunrises, sunsets, dew drops on flowers, red noses on kids, and dog-eared reading books. It's time for the gentle appreciation before we let go and before we reach for more. This is an in-between moment for you to pause, to find a home in yourself and to look at how far you’ve come, just for a moment.

Keep going. I don’t know what you’re working on or what you are working through. I don’t know your feelings or your trials, tribulations and victories. We haven’t spoken one-on-one in a while, but I know your character because you’re a Gremlin, and the Gremlin is always thinking, moving and making.

There will always be more for the Gremlin. And there is always enough for the Gremlin. We run from infinite pools of inspiration. We need to be reminded of our purpose to create. Right now, you’ve got six weeks left to develop, pull things together, and send it out. Come clean and ready for Jan.
