The ‘Only’ Gremlin

THE PARADOX OF PLAY & PERFORMANCE AND THE WEAPONISING OF ATTENTION

This week, there are many lessons and things too fragile to communicate - it is something about the connection between entertainment, fear, war, and weaponising attention as a distraction technique from taking responsibility for creating what we are here to create.

When it comes down to it. The only Gremlin that matters is the Gremlin you face in the mirror.

Lessons

Can we shift from cancel culture into transformation culture?

Societally, it seems like the use of anger is misplaced, and judgement is a quicker avenue to reACTION than self-analysis and creA(C)TION.

Even in my own newsletter, I don’t feel like I can talk freely about the current game of politics and attention plagiarism as I know A) how subtle and nuanced this subject is and B) I am not an expert in current affairs.

I am, however, an expert in my own self and my internal energetic alchemy. So.

In a healthy dose of scepticism against division tactics, I ask myself to create consistently, meditate, dance, pray, and share, lovingly, my soulful side that will never date when politics dates and will not vanish when cancel culture morphs into a transformation culture.

‘Tell Me Your Light’

Tell me your light,
and I will show you my sound.
Share your dream,
and I will hold it with self-awareness
of my own limitations and desires.
This ego will step aside,
and this soul will flow through
to see within you and me
a mastermind of golden dreams.
Even our jealousies
will become divine inspiration,
and our desires will seed magic.
It is true.
Unconditional love does exist.
It feels like support.
It feels like alchemy.
And it belongs now.
Go forth, sweet child
into the sweetest dream.
And let there be
the sweetest light.

-Karimah

We flatter ourselves by thinking this compulsion to please others an attractive trait: a gift for imaginative empathy, evidence of our willingness to give...we play roles doomed to failure before they are begun, each defeat generating fresh despair at the necessity of divining and meeting the next demand made upon us... To free us from the expectations of others, to give us back to ourselves...there lies the great singular power of self-respect.
— Joan Didion

Do not let other gremlins get in the way; do not let the whispers of the news nor the tapping of judgment get in the way of the biggest journey between your heart and mind.

It’s your Gremlin against you.

With love, prayer and paintings,

A humble servant to the calling of the artist's way

Karimah
