9/11. The ‘Never Again’ Gremlin.

I like to trace patterns and I've found a thread that will help us make sense why our generation will be great leaders… if we play our cards right.

Millennials are born into a unique set of circumstances because we experienced a WORLD UNITING CRISIS at the MAJOR COMING OF AGE MOMENTS in our life.

  1. I was born in 1992. Which means I was 9 on the day 9/11 shook the world. That means that by 10 I had an understanding of how stereotypes, discrimination and globalisation can affect me personally, and collectively = I UNDERSTAND BETTER THAN PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS THE implications of global security and the COLLECTIVE

  2. Then, when I came of age at 16 and stepped into university/the job market the world went into a recession with the 2008 housing crisis = WE UNDERSTAND THE INSTABILITY OF FINANCIAL MODELS AND DOUBT THE STATUS QUO

  3. In 2022, I turned 30, just as the world came out of Covid. Usually this is a time when people look to root into a new chapter - with a family or home, however this period of time feels unstable to most = WE HAVE BEEN MOULDED TO CARE ABOUT BORDERS & FREEDOM, ADAPT TO CHANGE AND REFLECT IN SILENCE.

Therefore, by the time we turn 40 and replace the leadership roles of those who have retired, we will be primed in resilience, collective thinking and emotional intelligence… As long as we don’t fall victim to circumstance but use these coming of age moments to become empowered.

History shapes a generation and when that generation comes of age they shape history. Each gremlin is a product of the circumstances they were born in-to, and when the time is right to step into self awareness and responsibility, the gremlin must expand and gracefully mould the world around them.

What I’m Writing:

On being fed up of humans…

“9/11”
I feel like humanity is getting the reminder for a software update and we keep on pressing remind me later. How many 9/11’s, financial crashes, wars and pandemics do we need to go through in order to realise that we can’t fight scarcity with scarcity?

Till next time you beautiful beast,

K X

Gremlin be a good animal, true to your instincts.
