The ‘Keen’ Gremlin:

It’s ‘T-minus’ four days and counting until we dip our toes into autumn. I’ve been out of school for 12 years and still, there’s something about September that makes me want to run to a stationery shop, get myself a new pencil case and announce to the world “hey I’M READY” come at me. (Although the kid version of me never had that kind of gaul, I always said it internally.) Well, it’s almost September and I feel a newness wash over me.

I’ve spoken to a lot of people this week who said that they felt ‘August didn’t really happen’ because the world has picked up momentum, and many of us are working through the month without taking a real break. This pace can leave a Gremlin feeling like a snowball rolling downhill without pausing to reassess how we want to show up. So perhaps, this September, we don’t have the capacity, or even desire to reinvent ourselves, but rather, can we add clarity onto the work we’ve been doing and MAINTAIN A STEADY PACE without burning out?

That was rhetorical. The answer is yes. But first we need to acknowledge the seasons are changing.

What I’m painting:

Studio Shots - The ‘Jummah Drip’ a spoken word/painting series is coming along nicely and with a lot of speed : check out some WIP photos below.

What I’m Writing:

On the excitement of a new chapter

“Holy Moly Abra Kajoly”
Strap in honey bee cause things are gonna get juicy
Things are gonna get crazy
And between you and me
This world ain’t ready

So pop your paws on your straps
And don’t forget those Scooby snacks
Because nothing in this world can hold you back
Habibi, honey bee, queen bee kingdom come…

Till next time you beautiful beast,

K X
