The ‘Nervous’ Gremlin

That morning, I woke feeling nervous, thinking about the future performance I said yes to. “You’ve done this before,” I said to my anxious belly. “Yes, but not poetry, not performing to people like this,” my mind said. “Oh sh, it’s fine, just chill and go with the flow,” said the heart. “Will you all just shut up? I’m doomed to make a total idiot of myself,” repeated the brain. Back and forth, this three-way dialogue between head, heart and gut went on all day until finally, I took to the stage to perform.
