“Where are you going to make the best art?” Super simple. This line was framed to me, and I realised it’s the perfect question to run decisions against.

No big spiel. No long writing post. There is enough of the self-transformation stuff out there. Vision. And action, with grace for the unknown in between. That’s all we've got to do.

We've all been there—downplaying our achievements, apologising for our greatness, and, most tragically, giving ourselves away at a discount because we're not entirely convinced of our value. It's time to stop the madness, Gremlins. The world is a harsh critic; we don't need to add our voices to the chorus of doubt.

That morning, I woke feeling nervous, thinking about the future performance I said yes to. “You’ve done this before,” I said to my anxious belly…Back and forth, this three-way dialogue between head, heart and gut went on all day until finally, I took to the stage to perform.

I couldn’t see what anger was because of my personal wounds of discrimination and what anger was because of my response to the war. The two are so interlinked in my body that these three weeks have felt like a medical procedure to unbraid my own experiences of racism, outrage and pain from the current destruction on the news.

How are you doing? Genuinely, how are you? How is your heart? How is your creativity? How is your health? Are you ready for the new year? Have you started making space, clearing out clothes, old pieces of paper and items? Are you focusing on what’s next, or are you numb?

Because the world is chaotic, and you need to be still. You need to channel your creative power. What are your non-negotiables so you can be better positioned to respond to the chaos?

When you embody your light, there is no denying of your beauty. Beauty, I’ve learnt, is the direct reflection of one’s capacity to love. Beauty is different to artificial glamour.

Do not let other gremlins get in the way; do not let the whispers of the news nor the tapping of judgment get in the way of the biggest journey between your heart and mind.  It’s your Gremlin against you.

You see, we each have an imitable soul. Society tells us that celebrities are special and in their specialness, we would be best to imitate them with filters, plastic surgery, lifestyles and things that make us at best, a copy and at worst a parody of the greats. But in fact, the greatest thing about the greats is that they are distinctively THEM.

A quick ‘note’ on Autumn that I wrote for myself, which is actually… kind of sweet and helpful. So, I share this more spiritual poem along with other great, random things.

Uniqueness is all that it takes; it is the magic pill. When someone finally embraces their whole self in their totality of individuality, people have no choice but to respond by becoming curious and magnetised. Society responds by calling that person an anomaly…

‘Go for it’, I say. I bite my tongue because they don't want it enough to risk feeling uncomfortable. I gracefully let them out-talk themselves when they start romanticising painting. ‘So Go For It and STOP TALKING ABOUT IT’ I tell them again.

I was nine years old when I lost faith in the media. And I was nine years old when I learnt to question what a TV screen told me who I could and shouldn’t love. I was also nine years old when the world fragmented into rupture, and what could have been a global cry for love became a trojan horse for mass war, death, fear and, above all else, separation.

Lessons in confidence. Because here’s the clincher. Sometimes, you don’t know what you want until you know what you DON’T want. And sometimes, you don’t know you feel UN-worthy until someone helps you feel worthy.

I know. It may come across as borderline conceited to name a Gremlin after myself, but I want to share my creative efforts and ask your attention this one time. The Evolving Out Loud EP is out now.
